Yes, because smokers never make me cough by blowing [censored] in my face and we all know drunk drivers never hurt anyone.

And people with crying babies in movie theaters bother me. I cough when people in SUV's drive by and the exhaust goes in my face. In fact people shouldn't be allowed to wear perfume either, since it bothers my sinuses. Also, I'm allergic to pets so nobody ought to be allowed to own pets.

Stop being a nit.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're kidding, right? I do say something when a screaming baby in a movie theater gets out of hand. Screaming babies shouldn't be in movie theaters. Also perfume = drunk driving, huh? Thanks for putting me in my place.

Drunk driving was never part of the OP, you're changing the subject from "things people do that harm themselves" to "serious public dangers". Overeating, drinking, smoking (drunk driving set aside, or maliciously blowing smoke in your face, which is absurd and probably only happened once ever) - these are individual things. You feel a moral obligation to lecture them because it irritates you?

My point is that lots of [censored] irritates lots of people, you happen to pick on drinking and smoking because they're popular things to pick on, but it by no means is by virtue of some moral obligation that you're criticizing them.

guys, please don't turn this thread into another drunk driving thread. If you want to post about that, I started a good thread about it maybe ~6 months ago.

I once told my best friend I was concerned about his drugs/drinking/swimming while drunk in a river. And I don't think he liked it.

We aren't friends anymore

As for the food thing, I would probably make a comment to a close friend but I think it would be akward to say it to someone you dont have a lot of history with.

I wish people felt the moral obligation to keep their opinions to themselves honestly. If I want to do something that hurts only myself and nobody else, wtf business is it of yours (or anyone's in general)?

What's that got to do with anything? Believe it or not a large majority of people who like to drink and get drunk don't drink and drive. That's like saying rape is bad and therefore sex is bad.

guys, please don't turn this into a drinking/driving thread. There's already a good one of those that was started like 6 months ago.

I'd like this thread to be a debate about how it's PC to call people drug addicts, alcoholics, and smokers, but it's not ok to call out an unhealthy person.

Because it's not being fat, it's a lifestyle choice.

Well the debate has already been finished when someone pointed out that overeating is socially acceptable in western society.

Why is it socially acceptable though? How is it any different then being a drug addict/alcoholic/smoker?

Just because you're in the majority if you're unhealthy one way doesn't mean you have the right to call people out who are unhealthy a different way.

Why are you part of the worlds lower class for being part of the one thing, but can go and do whatever you want being the other?

Dude, what are you talking about? Deinking and smoking were the oNLY things I mentioned and you replied directly to me. Get real.

In addition, DRINKING was one of the things the OP DID mention and DRUNK DRIVERS start out by DRINKING. I can capitalize more if you still don't see the connection.
