25NL anyone doing these semi-bluff raises?
Villian is decent winning thinking player just doesnt make the best choices all of the time. He can make some moves and he knows i will as well. my cont bet is ~80%, pfr 8%.
I have been working these into my game and i have had alot of success just cont betting good flops and taking down a nice little pot there. i dont do it too often, just when i think that my pfr is a little low and like NLTAP says i use the best hands i would usually fold with. Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.10/$0.25 Blinds - 8 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter) SB: $23.45 BB: $17.60 UTG: $15.55 UTG+1: $7.25 MP1: $19.75 Hero (MP2): $24.50 CO: $25.85 BTN: $46.70 Preflop: Hero is dealt 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (8 Players) 3 folds, Hero raises to $1.25, CO folds, BTN calls $1.25, 2 folds big pfr, i dont want any callers This guy gives up the pot on the flop like 80% Flop: ($2.85) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets $2.00, BTN raises to $4.50, Hero calls $2.50 I put him on 22, 88, JJ, QQ, J good kicker, and bluff. i dont see him semibluffing with anything less than T9spades. Turn: ($11.85) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets $7.00, BTN raises to $34.50, Hero calls all-in for $11.75 Uncalled bet of $15.75 returned to BTN I donked here because my flush is small, and from the flop action i know he likes his hand or is bluffing, if he likes his hand he will call or get all in, if he is bluffing he might check and get a free spade. Also my hand is NINJA River: ($49.35) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players - 1 All-In) Pot Size: $49.35 ($2.40 Rake) comments on all streets please, anyone else doing this? |

Re: 25NL anyone doing these semi-bluff raises?
Im not sure I will play this hand pf but.. flop is fine with me. Turn is ok too, considering his play on flop. He is strong at FLOP already so I don't believe he has a flushdraw. I think You won this. He has a set or overpair.

I am not sure what NLTAP says, but if it says to raise 34s
UTG in small stakes in order to create an image, you should stop reading it. |

This goes in Full Ring.
No, I don't raise 43s in that position. |

Re: 25NL anyone doing these semi-bluff raises?
I don't think you should have played this hand from the postion you were in. This should have been a fold. Basically you just got lucky. I don't think you will have a positive EV doing this type of thing over the long term.

Re: 25NL anyone doing these semi-bluff raises?
Fold preflop. Don't like a 5x raise. Ignore the section in HOH on preflop raise sizes, it's garbage. Rest looks good.

Re: 25NL anyone doing these semi-bluff raises?
I went through a phase where I raised every SC from any position. 23s and 34s were losers for me.
If this is the worst hand you would normally fold, you may be doing the same thing I was. It can be fun, and even break-even or a little bit profitable if you are good at handreading, but you will do better a little tighter. That said, I think this is played fine. |
