Live 2 / 4 NLCASH
Villain is a calling station and overvalues his draws and pocket pairs. He basicly bets his weak hands and checks / calls his strong hands.
He has checked river behind with a small flush on a 10s As Jx 4x 5s board. [I mucked QJ] But he has also gone All In on a A Ks 8s Flop with a pair of 10s. [I won with AsQs] Villain has around 400€, I cover. I get K 9 on the button and raise to 12, Villain calls. Flop comes Kh 9x 8x Villain checks, I bet 30, Villain calls Turn is a 10h Villain checks, I bet 120, Villain thinks a little and calls River is Jx Villain moves All-In for ~ 250 more, laughs and tells me that I will not be pleased when I see his cards. Can you lay this down |

Re: Live 2 / 4
Doesn't "laughs and tells me that I will not be pleased when I see his cards" seem like more of an indication of strength? Who would say something like that on a crowded board, when it is so easy for your opponent to talk himself into calling with lots of 2 pair possibilities. I think what he was saying is that you won't like his Qrag, and I think even without that chat it's a pretty easy fold. I don't see people bluffing on 4 to straight boards all that often.

Re: Live 2 / 4
Given his read that the villain tries to underplay his strong hands it seems unlikely that he played so weak throughout this with the queen then somehow landed a straight. If he did have it saying that in chat really doesn't make much sense to me.
I'm not saying that I'm confident we are ahead, but I would expect him to show up with something unusual like 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] here often enough for calling to be more profitable than folding. Edit: I could kind of see him showing up with QT here sometimes too. I need to rethink this. |

Re: Live 2 / 4
After some more thought I think it really depends on how confident you are with your read. If he really doesn't seem to stray from it I'm definitely calling here. If he mixes it up fairly often I'd prolly drop.

Re: Live 2 / 4
I wanted to call but a couple of things threw me off:
a) He would've usually bet a flush draw on the turn b) He would've bet most pairs on the flop c) He could've played a flopped set like this d) His statement after the river hit I did call anyway and he showed me QT... Thanks for your ideas! |
