Default Small claims court

I lent over a thousand dollars to a guy who I thought would pay me back. When I started to put pressure on him about the money, he made up all kinds of excuses about his parent not letting him liquidate his investments, selling his car etc…anything to buy more time. Finally he decided he was going on a month long trip to Europe and wrote me a check that later bounced due to insufficient funds. Does anyone know anything about the small claims process and if the check alone will make for an easy retrieval of the money? Also, if I’m from Connecticut and he’s from New Jersey where do I file the claim? Any information or experiences with small claims would be greatly appreciated.

The NSF check should be all the evidence you need.

I believe that you would file in Connecticutt. It doesn't matter where he lives.

I think you can go throw a company that will pressure him into giving you $ for a small Fee like a debt collecter agency or w/e
