given the way the hand played out, 9 high isnt so terrible here. Maybe not a winning play, but not as terrible as it seems.

are you kidding? why would you think that 9 high was good? he could bluff with so many hands that would include one card higher than a 9...

at least....if you knew he was bluffing you have to raise with 9 high....calling can't be right...how can you put him on a hand worse than 9 high...

I can see some sense ,
he hasnt raised preflop so probably no A or K
good pot odds
and his river bet looks just enough to get a busted draw to fold.

Could be OK if you know the player, wouldnt recommend it as a habit.

it feels to me like if you really have that good of a read on the hand you should raise the river...give yourself a chance to win the hand

if hes aggressive Id prolly fire on turn, river is probably a raise the way it was played. I mean its possible he has something like J9, J8, maybe some Q8 style hand thats pretty doubtful on calling a raise.
