(as in right now because everything's booked) edit: by planning in advance i mean booking a hotel room and buying a three day pass for music. it's the best way to go. www.sxsw.com

Austin for sure. My girlfriend just moved to SAn Marcos, right in between. Austin is def a better time, although I would make the trip out to San Antonio 45 mins to see the riverwalk. Good Times.

Let me be the 20th person to nominate Austin. Go to 6th street at night for all the clubs and live music you can handle. The Bob Bulluck Texas History Museum is also a great place to visit.
