Default Dial up connetion?

I still have dial up and i play on FTP. I am wondering if anyone on here has or has had dial up when playing online poker. I sometimes get disconnected but i dont think that is the internets fualt, I just think it is a FTP problem. I am wondering if anyone had had dial up and switched to high speed and noticed a big difference. I am getting high speed installed soon, but it is mostly so I can watch videos from here or like cardrunners.(my dial up is so bad it would take atleast 12 hours to download a decent lenth video)

Are you getting disconnected from the internet, or are you getting disconnected just from FTP? There is obviously a significant difference.

It would be truly remarkable if FTP's client was disconnecting your modem from your ISP.

I find that a broadband connection is much faster and much more reliable. That's the whole point of them.

I played on dial up for a short time awile back.It was funny,id sometimes even get dc from incoming calls despite having that supposedly disabled. Not to mention when i did get dc,it took ages sometimes to get back.I wasnt playing much online then, but it still sucked. If you play more than a couple hours a week, get high speed and the money you lose getting dc`d on dial up will pay for it easily.Ohhh, and like was stated before,it is 2007 get with the times Jethro lol

I have played on dialup for a couple of years without a problem. I haven't noticed a difference from high speed. Just don't try to surf the net or download anything while playing.

BTW, I would get high speed if I could, but I live in a bubble where all I can get is satellite, which is just too damn expensive. It sucks...3 blocks south can get dsl, 1 mile north gets cable, me....nothing.
