flopped flush HU weird spot
Villain has been losing the last several pots to me. I have been playing more solid than he has. Not too much 3 betting preflop. The river check was intended to look like a big Ace that gave up after missing the club. Also my read led me to believe he had something worth value betting on that river HU...then I was put into this spot.
Full Tilt Poker Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $2/$4 2 players Converter Pre-flop: (2 players) Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB raises, Hero 3-bets, SB calls. Re: flopped flush HU weird spot
The action's messed up, how can you checkraise the river when youre in position.

Re: flopped flush HU weird spot
Capping should be okay. He can't 5-bet.
I don't hate a call either. It kind of comes down to feel in a HU spot like this, I think. I mean, I can't tell you what the river 3-bet means, but he is 3-betting a river screwplay, so probably he's either annoyed or likes his hand (and, well, he probably likes his hand regardless, so maybe the real question is how annoyed he might be). |

Re: flopped flush HU weird spot
I think this is an easy cap because the only hand that improved to beat you was 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. The fact that you have the 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] makes him having pocket 9s combinatorially very unlikely. It is conceivable he flopped a higher flush and waited to the river to keep you bluffing, but I think is quite unlikely. If he had trip 8s on the turn, he would have raised the turn. If he was waiting for the river with his trip 8s, he's probably bad enough to 3bet just trip 8s in addition to boats.
Straights got there, he could be overvaluing J9, he might make a really bad call of your river cap because the pot is big, he's convinced you're making some advanced bluff, or he just wants to see what you had. In conclusion, it's time to call on the capped crusader. |

HU you should cap here, if he has a better hand so be it, usually you will win.
