Default Factoring player emotions when making a big call?

hello,

i'm just wondering what your take is on calling an all-in from a player who just lost a huge pot a few hands ago or a hand ago? more specifically, during late stages of a MTT or SNG...we've all seen the ones who tilt and push with J5 and ones who fake tilt and push with AA/KK

often times i find myself in these positions where i'm trying to find out if i should call or fold

just an example, guy lost a huge pot (100/200 blinds) next hand pushes UTG ..he has 2000 left, i have 2000 in MP with 88, i call and he turns up 1010

i'm sure alot of it is read dependent, but just wondering if there's any other opinions on this matter

thanks alot

Just as you say in the title, factor it. The 1010 vs 88 hand is a perfect example. This might be a marginal call without a read, but if you say 15% of the time he has any 2 because he's on tilt it's probably an easy call...

if it is the immediate next hand after a big loss and he pushes i open up his range usually (if he played solid till now - i'm more carefull of course, but also solid players tilt - not that often but they do).

in your example i'd call anytime with 88

but only the fact that someone is on tilt should not get you in situation where you start to call a push with marginal hands. it's annoying when you read him right (as being on tilt) and his A2o crushes your KTo.

Even at the micro stakes I play at I see more people faking tilt than actually tilting. Or at least semi-faking it with small/middle pairs or big aces. I'm always cautious about calling these guys but will probably get it in with 88 if I think it will be heads up.

a person being on tilt will definately open his range, but I hope youre factoring in a call with proper strategy to the game you are playing, not just the fact that this person may be 'tilting'

Just remember it's very hard for the fake tilts to outnumber the real tilts, because faketilt requires a hand at the exact right moment. Even if there are X times as many faketilters as realtilters, that doesn't mean it's X:1 that a push after a big hand is a fake tilt.
