Fold 2 pair?
Live $1/$3NL
I'm in BB with about $400 MP1 has about $140 MP2 has about $500 I get Kc7c in the BB. Folded over to MP1 who raises to $9. MP2 calls, folded to me and I call. Flop is K-8-7 rainbow. I bet $15. MP1 raises to $60 and MP2 makes it $120. What do I do? If I call, I know I'll end up putting $20 more in for the MP1 all-in, and I probably have the rest of my stack at risk after the turn. I'm thinking at least a set in there with the raise and the reraise, wouldn't you? I'll post results after I get some feedback. Thanks. |

Re: Fold 2 pair?
This doesn't belong in poker theory; you should post in small takes pot-limit and no-limit.
My feeling is you should probably fold, but seeing as how this is a low stakes game, you might want to push if you think MP2 is out of line. |

Re: Fold 2 pair?
<shrug> you shouldn't even be around for the flop.

Re: Fold 2 pair?
MP1 has AK, MP2 has Pkt 8's and you are drawing dead against the big stack!

Re: Fold 2 pair?
Depends on the type of player MP2 is. If he is a half decent/strong player, he would likely call the $60 if he had a set, to get money in from you as well. His payout from the other guy is limited because he is practically all in. It seems like more of an isolation play than a value play. He could easily be doing it with KA,KQ,KJ even, considering that MP1 could have raised preflop with a pocket pair and there isnt much risk because he is the shortstack. Unless you have a really strong read, you have to call. Especially in a low limit game.

Re: Fold 2 pair?
Looks to me like MP1 is overplaying aces, but I'd be more worried about MP2's 3bet. You really need reads to determine what to do. Readless, I muck, but if MP2 would make this move with AK, or 87, or is known to slowplay big hands, I'd call.

Re: Fold 2 pair?
I mucked (after showing my end of the table).
MP1 did in fact go all-in. MP2 called of course. MP1 has QQ MP2 has K7o Turn is a blank. River is the case Q. I had considered moving all-in if MP2 hadn't reraised. And even if I had pushed after MP2, there was no way MP1 was folding, right? I saved my self some money, got called a "tight-a$$" and went on to double up later. |

Re: Fold 2 pair?
I would usually call but he could play a set like this.. You got out cheaply , i still lean towards a call though.

Re: Fold 2 pair?
I dunno about this one. As others have stated, sans read, I fold.
Oh, and I also fold preflop, but that's another discussion. |

Re: Fold 2 pair?
Two pair is a hand that can go sour all of a sudden. If this guy is raising like that preflop, then reraises after the flop, you could well be looking at a set of kings. Discretion is the better part of valor.
