Final Pot: $52

Results in white below:
No showdown. BB wins $52.

This was a 6-max game that dwindled down to heads-up play.

I don't have much cash HU experience.

I was operating under the following line of thought:

1) Good stack sizes justify calling with this hand in position.
2) The range of hands he could be 3-betting with includes a lot of hands that aren't big pairs that raising here has positive expectation (at least to not give Ax a free card).
3) Size of the raise was such that I could get away from a push, where I'd surely be beaten.

How would you play this differently, if you would?

I prefer a passive line here. I would call him two times, and fold to a third barrell probably. You lose the same amount that way as if you raised, you give yourself a chance to suckout, and you also get information against most players. No need to raise for information here. The way you played it, you have to fold.

So if a Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] comes on the turn, you still call?

I know it is annoying if I say that, but it depends. You have any reads on a guy?

Nothing in particular. He hadn't sat down too long ago.

He did tank for a long time after I raised him on the flop, FWIW.

Is the hand up to the flop-raise standard?

Do you call his 3-bet pre-flop?

I don't like calling preflop with this hand, but it is nothing wrong if you do so, especially if he's been reraising a lot you have to defend. Without reads, I fold this preflop. I find that when I don't speculate too much with calling 3 bets preflop, I stay out of a lot of trouble. This hand is one of them. Even if you are a great postflop player, it is not worth it (unless you are defending because he is reraising too much).
