Default Re: Has anyone played at Treasure Island in Vegas?

This thread has pretty much convinced me to play and maybe stay at TI on my next trip to Vegas (hopefully one before the end of the year).

I mostly play 1/2 NL in AC, so the 1/3NL sounds very good to me.

How are their hotel rooms and hotel poker rates? Ease of getting them?

Their hotel rooms were recently remodeled, and from what I have heard are more then satisfactory. Though standard as far as size and amenities, it is obviously nicer then the dumpy properties, but nowhere near as nice or swanky as Venetian or Wynn. It is a AAA Four Diamond resort.

The poker rate requires 6 hours of play a day Sun-Thurs, and 8 hours per day for Fri-Sat.

ALL people staying in the hotel room can combine their hours for the stay. Tournament hours count towards the room rate as well as cash games.

To get the poker rate, you need to book your room through casino marketing, and Danette or Chris will take care of your rate in person once you qualify. Just let them know when you get to the room that you are a poker rate customer, and they will take care of the rest. Calling the poker room directly and having Danette transfer you to marketing is often the best play (she works dayshift, and is the best go to person in the room). Calling marketing directly can often lead to confusion, as often you end up with the wrong department.

The hourly comps of $2 per hour, uncapped, are earned through cash games only. The comps are good at all TI restaurants, and there is no maximum per trip you can earn and redeem. They are available instantly, as soon as you get up from the table.

Feel free to send me a PM for more info. I play there about 15-20 hours a week, so I can happily answer any other questions you may have.

The way they do poker rates sucks. There seems to be no formula. You call, and when you eventually get to the correct person, they say "Hmmm, let's say $185 a night". Unlike Bellagio, Venetian, and Wynn, the poker rate is higher if the walk-in rate is higher. Oftentimes, Wynn's poker rate has been lower than TI's.

It is true that the poker rate does vary. Though they do have generic rates that they "usually" are, those rates are always subject to change due to holidays, conventions, etc.

Poker rates everywhere are often beatable using online discount travel sites, but as always, it depends.

We were EXTREMELY disappointed with the service at the hotel. The cleaning people would call us every day around 1pm asking if we were ready to have our rooms cleaned. IF THE SIGN IS STILL ON THE DOOR, WE DON'T WANT OUR [censored] ROOM CLEANED YET. 1pm is a stupid time to call considering it *is* Las Vegas and 1pm is basically the middle of the night for a lot of people who travel there.

One day they didn't even bother cleaning it, despite the fact that they a) called us and woke us up like every day and b) we told them they could come in by 1:30pm.

I went to the desk and he said he'd call and see if we could get some money back because of what happened. He called and then informed us we'd get nothing and enjoy it

On top of all this, we were being woke up constantly during the morning because of room renovations. You'd think they might not book people in rooms where you could hear this but that didn't happen. We could hear hammering and people dropping nails all morning. When housekeeping made their daily unwanted wake up call to us, we complained about the noise and the lady said "WELL THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT'S GON' BE, MMM HMM." I'm not making that up.

So yeah other than the poker room TI basically sucked really badly and hopefully Stars players will get to maybe stay somewhere else next year, in fact I think I'll email them soon and let them know.

Ryan

Here's my little rant about TI. I used to stay there a lot. It was my first choice, and I stayed there unless it was sold out. It was just a convenient place to stay, whereas the big places are often a PITA to get eats, or whatever. Then they started doing a lot of remodelling, which made some services unavailable and I started staying at other places. The remodel is finally done, so I stayed there again last week. Honestly, in the casino it's hard to see any difference from pre-remodel. The rooms are jazzier, but they were just fine before.

My rant: It's no longer convenient. Almost all the gift shops close early, so you have to hunt around to find one that open late. The coffee shop is understaffed. I was in there 20 minutes before I finally got my soda and order ready to be taken. I got fed up and left. It's nearly impossible to get something to eat in less than an hour. There's no sportsbook snack bar or food court. There's a "deli" that's excruciatingly slow. If there are 5 people in line, count on 30 minutes before you get to order. Then it took 15 minutes to cook an 8 dollar hot dog. This is actually a problem that's becoming pervasive on the strip - to the point that I like staying at places like the Orleans more than the strip.
