Default 100NL - flop raise with 77, over on board

New to table, no stats on villain and no reads yet. From his preflop raise I'm assuming he's not that great. He insta potted (well almost) the flop when I checked to him as well, committing almost half his stack.

im sorta split here. villain could have all sorts of Ax hands that missed the flop. but still, this looks kinda spewy. theres almost no fold equity here, so you have to be correct here an awful high % of the time in order for this to work out well.

im just c/f the flop. he gave you a cheap chance to hit a set, and his stack was deep enough to make him pay. be glad about that and don't lose anymore money.

In general a check/raise bluff if attempted blind without info will not make you money in the long run. You have no idea he doesn't have 2 diamonds, higher pockets, AK, KQ-s, or even KK.. and risked a huge amount of money to try and win a pot you might've already been behind.

Either bet the flop to find out or check/call. His bet size is sorta strong there so folding isn't bad either given his strength preflop and having position on you... shoving was the worst option.

Flop minraise followed by an insta pot on the flop == big red sign "I HAS THA NUTS HOMIES!".

ps "THA NUTS" as in preflop and it obviously varies from AQ to AA, but most species only do this with AA and KK.
