Default Mini Vegas trip report - pre-Super Bowl Saturday

So I've been reading 2+2 and how there are so many bad players in Vegas for the Super Bowl weekend. I've been card dead all month, and hope maybe a road trip might shake the Bad Luck Monkey off my back. There's a round trip fare on Southwest for under $200, but rooms are still on the spendy side. Nobody is going to be playing poker on Sunday anyway, so I get a late afternoon departure Saturday with a 6 am return Sunday, and just figure to ironman it at the tables the whole trip.

There will be plenty of time Saturday morning to lose $325 in a Shooting Stars satellite at Bay 101 before my flight. As it gets closer to the tournament in the spring, these sats get more popular and it's harder to get in unless you wake up at oh-dark-thirty to sign up. It's supposed to start at 7:15, so I will be a sneaky bastard and wake up at 5-freakin-30 a.m. to make sure I get in. I arrive at 6:30 and get a weird feeling because there is no line at signup. All 140 seats have been sold plus 4 alternates, and they started the thing already! I have little hope of getting in anytime soon because it's a rebuy, but I sign up anyway. Surprisingly, I'm in 10 minutes later. I get no hands to play, as my streak continues. Every time I get something remotely playable, like KJo, it's raised in front of me, and I fold. Finally, a few minutes after the break, in level 4 with the blinds at 100-200, I find AA. I almost hate to get AA since I seem to lose a lot with them. It might be selective memory, so I began keeping track of my record with AA, and I am 0-1 since I started keeping track. Anyway, it's been raised to $1000 in front of me, indicating a hand that doesn't want to be called. I'm not going to dick around with these stinkin' aces, so I push with about $3800, content to get the $1300 in the pot. Of course, he calls, with pocket 8's. Geez. Flop comes all blanks. Oops, 2 of them are hearts, and one of those 8's is a heart. You guessed it, turn is a heart, river a heart. I don't even want to know what the probability is of turning a 1 pocket card heart into a flush. 0-2 since I've been keeping track. Great start for my road trip.
