He got lucky you had such a strong hand... you could have easily checked behind on turn and check folded the river.

He can't really take much of a different line on the flop, as he has the deck crippled. Seeing as you keep betting I like his river lead with less than a pot behind and he is probably expecting you to shove over the top. Move tables, he plays good lol.

Easy push, I don't like villain's line but all donks play it like that.

Villain is probably too inclined to slowplay just in general, but, to be honest, I don't see any other line for him that would be a massive improvement.

I think basically this is just one of those hands where the cards that you hold are far more important than the specific line he chooses. I mean, once you reach the turn, if you don't have at least AQ, he's going to have trouble getting paid off for much more, no matter what he does.

I probably would donk the turn if I were him, but that just would have led to our getting all-in sooner. And, also, a turn donk would not be the most effective thing versus an opponent who holds AJ/AT and knows how to lay those hands down in this spot. (That same opponent will check that hand if given the chance, but at least that will give him a chance to improve.) Edit: Similarly, a turn donkbet will probably fold out JJ and worse, whereas Villain might get a curiosity call from underpairs if he makes a modest river bet after a turn check-through. I guess I'm saying that check-calling the turn might in fact be Villain's best play.

Anyway, though, it is entirely possible that Villain was congratulating himself on his "crafty" play after the hand. Whether or not he realized how important it was to the success of his play that you held a lesser monster is another question, but his stats do suggest he has some idea what he's doing, so my guess is that he realizes how lucky he was that the cards fell the way they did.
