Nintendo says 6 million units by the end of the year.

Xbox 360 has sold a total of 7 million units, in the 12 months they have been out. Wii selling 6 million by New Years would be a success of ridonkulous proportions

As I peruse ebay, it's starting to look like the Wiis there are not too far from MSRP, at least for the packages you can get w/ Zelda + extra wiimote + extra nunchuck. That could change either way on Black Friday, but it's prolly going down. It might come back up a bit before Christmas, but that depends on how many are shipped over here. I may just up and do the ebay thing for the first time in my life. It shouldn't be too hard for a first time buyer to get one of these, no?

6 Million sounds high. I talked with a guy at GameStop today, and he said the word from Nintendo was between 2M - 4M units by end of year.

No, it shouldn't be too hard at all. There are 10 Wii auctions ending every minute during prime-time (evenings). Just scope them out and you'll get a good price.

What i did was find one ending in a few minutes at a price that was good for me. I then went to the bid now page and moved that over to my right monitor.

Then, I opened another window and went back to the main auction page and kept refreshing it... If the price started to sky-rocket towards the end, I just moved on. It took about half an hour until I found one that was dormant for the last few minutes. I kept on refreshing until there were about 7 seconds left... The price stayed the same, and I went for the kill.

I'll have it on Friday. I paid about $50 over retail, but I think it was worth it as far as wasting gas and time/frustration is concerned driving all over the place trying to get lucky and find one of these things.

i believe nintendo's 6mil by end of year is end of their fiscal year (march)...

if they could make and ship 6 mil this year, then they would all sell...but they can't make them that fast

supposedly 1mil to US and then with europe/asia/australia/etc it's something like 2-4 mil to world in 2006. i think they can beat the 6mil by march then, since they'll have 3 more months

I think I might stop in Nintendoworld on Friday to pick one up. Does anyone know if they are only allowing 1 per customer?

I have to believe that most places will have more on Black Friday. I plan to call a few and get their for the 5AM opening. Hopefully all the peopel who like to sleep overnight have gotten one by now.

The problem is now you're dealing with all the maniacs who camp out for Black Friday anyways.

I plan to use them as a diversion as I race to the EB games in our mall.

42it, do you have a Target in your area? I'm not really an expert on this so don't take my word for it, but I think you're better off going to a Target or Wal-Mart at around 5-6am. Target seems to be good about handing out tickets to the people in line, meaning that as long as you get there early and wait you don't have to bum rush the store.
