Default \"Your\'re so vain\" - A song about God?

Let's say you do not believe in the existance of God, but you follow all the rules except the one that you should believe in God. In case you were wrong in your assumption, why should God punish you for it?

You were a good person and treated others well and isn't that what God really wants? Why should he bother about the rest?

This has been gone over on this forum ad-nauseum. The short answer (if you're a Christian) is: No. It is not enough.

Warren Beatty seems to be the most likely answer.

Romans 1-3, esp. 3:

10as it is written,
"THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;
11THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS,
THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;
12ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS;
THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD,
THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE."
13"THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE,
WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING,"
"THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS";
14"WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS";
15"THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD,
16DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS,
17AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN."
18"THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES.

Pascal's wager can also show the safe bet would be to not believe there is a God.

pretty sure the bible says that most people will be judged on how they acted in life, not their beliefs.
