Default LIMIT O/8 - IS TIGHT REALLY RIGHT?

All the literature I've read says to only play a few certain hands that are profitable in loose limit 0/8 games. Ray Zee says something to the efeect of if you are the tightest player at the table you have an edge, and in a loose game if you are the tightest on the flop you have an edge. However in my experience, when I play ultra tight I tend to struggle. I seem to bleed chips for a long period of time either watching high cards flop with premium low hands, or missing low draws or getting countereited. The game can be very frustrating. Lateley I've been experimenting with looser pre-flop play and looser and more aggressive post flop play at lower limit b&m play with better results. Does anyone have any similar experiences or thoughts on this?

first, i think zee is talking about games that are generally pretty tight.

second, i think he says that you need to be the tightest at the table -- this can still be pretty loose if everyone else at the table is loose.

i'd even go one step further and say that you merely need to be the tightest person in the hand.

I play much Laggier than my counterparts at
the table, with good results over 75k+ hands.

I've had similar experiences in my initial dabblings in O8 at low limits (usually 4+ people seeing the flop). I'm finding that loosing up pre-flop, but still playing tight post-flop seems to be working better.
