i just wish i had a mentor when i started. how many times did you guys light money on fire cause you had no idea how to handle your emotions? granted we all sometimes tilt spew a few buy-ins here and there...but it took me a long time to get solid control of myself... ive been thinking bout some coaching here lately..not sure though. |

G, fwiw i've ordered a decent amount of FTP checks and it's never taken longer than 10 days to receive and usually i get it a bit quicker. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I have too and they're usually decent w/ them, they're just having a FT moment as this one's going on 6 weeks. |

Also, it could very well be in those 100k hands there are a few you played poorly or for bigger pots than normal which are skewing the results. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, yes indeed, lol. |

FWIW i'm with bobbo on the $750 thing, that seems quite reasonable. especially if he's willing to answer personal questions about it via AIM. Its not like yall can't afford it, anyhow. As for the people inquiring about the top msnl/hsnl players having received coaching, I think many of the 'best' players haven't gotten formal coaching, but most of the 'good' ones have. Not to lump myself in the "best" category by any means, but I haven't ever gotten coaching (except in Razz. I'd highly recommend Doctor Razz if any of you are interested in learning that game . I certainly am not opposed to it, obviously, I've just never found myself in a situation where I felt like I needed it. [/ QUOTE ] The best players may not have gotten formal coaching, but a LOT of them sweat each other which amounts to the same thing. raptor and jman both did the tommy angelo coaching experience, i'm sure krantz and whitelime sweated each other a fair amount, etc. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] can i get 1 thing clear? someone laughed at me when i said this 2ptbb/100 at 400nl=$16/100 hands 10 tabling= 1k hands per hour roughly so the hourly would be $160, correct? [/ QUOTE ] Your MT ratio would be more like 8 instead of 10 though, from opening and closing tables, unless youre doing like 4 hour sessions. [/ QUOTE ] some people stay at the table after they win a pot, if you can believe that! just kidding, choo choo! [/ QUOTE ] IIRC pokerchap choo choos also. Re: Official October Thread: General Discussion
I've never had formal coaching but I've spoken to a bunch of good players, exchanged hh's talked about the game etc and I think its been really helpful to my improvement.
James282 owed me a favor and I asked him to sweat me and we talked about the session. He approaches the game way differently and it was awesome, gave me a lot to think about. Definitely would be worth the $350 or whatever he'd charge. [Note: not saying he's interesting in coaching anyone, was just a one time deal for me.] Met, Maybe you'd figure this stuff out eventually, but a coach can get you there quicker. At the least, he'll give you some food for thought. I've coached some and people have a play as their default which just kind of sucked but it became habit. |

Re: Official October Thread: General Discussion
I never had a coach but I talk to fairly decent amount of people and sweat a lot of sessions quite a bit.It is also pretty true for most of the players I talk to. We just help each other out rather than formal coaching.
