Default More cable movies on the DVR

Prior Thread

OK, so I still haven't really watched most of the movies on that list, but I'm reviewing them as I get to them.

This thread is only for movies that are out on cable, NOT for movies that are in the theater. Find an existing thread or make a new thread to talk about movies that you can see in a theater.

Here are the latest movies on the DVR:

All The King's Men
The Illusionist
Jet Li's Fearless
Elizabeth (old, recorded it because I never watched it and saw trailer for sequel that I might want to see)
The Prestige
Shut Up and Sing (Dixie Chicks docu)
Half Nelson
Employee of the Month
Aeon Flux
The Wicker Man (so I have both The WICKER Man and The WEATHER Man starring Nick Cage hmmm)
The Bridge (GG Bridge suicide doc)
The Bad News Bears
Akeelah and the Bee
The Queen

Thoughts on these?

Please comment on whatever movies you see on HBO/Showtime/etc, especially crappy fluff movies.

I really liked "The Prestige".
Not a movie where you can guess what is coming next.

The old "All the King's Men" is a classic and well worth watching.
Have no idea of the remake.

Half Nelson is an art house type flick that is produced well and has above average acting. The main character is a grade AAA scumbag. So much so that it really detracts from the movie viewing experience. So I guess you could say it's a good flick just because it evokes strong emotions from the viewer.

The Bridge rocks. The best part is the interview with the one guy who survives the jump.

Half Nelson is real good, definitely worth a watch, Ryan Gosling is gonna be one of the best actors of our generation I think.

Both Illusionist/The Prestige should be seen.

Yeah, I have been looking forever to find the bridge somewhere. What channel did you find it on?

The Illusionist

Very good, recommended.

Jet Li's Fearless

[/ QUOTE ]

From what I remember of this movie, it was quite entertaining -- not as good as Hero or some of his other Hong Kong style action movies, but entertaining.

[ QUOTE ]

The Prestige

[/ QUOTE ]

Highly recommended. Some minor plot issues for me, but all in all a very entertaining movie.

[ QUOTE ]

Aeon Flux

[/ QUOTE ]

Awful. Delete it now. Probably worse than 'Lucky You.'

The Illusionist and The Queen are both very solid. Definitely watch those.

Akeelah & the Bee is watchable, but not spectacular. I mean, you can pretty much imagine the whole plot without even watching the movie.

Bad News Bears is mostly garbage, but with a few mildly funny moments. I wouldn't bother unless you're really bored.

shaniac,

IFC and Sundance. I don't see them on right now, but movies shown generally show up again on those channels.
