Prop bet on who is ultimately found responsible?

I'm not interested simply because I'm not sure with this one, but look at the history of terrorism and violence in India. Correct me if I'm wrong, but similar acts have occured in India that have nothing to do with Islam or Pakistan. If you're making a line for a prop bet, it's closer than you think. Also, that no one has claimed responsibility yet (as far as I know) leads me to believe it's more likely to be unrelated.

Wow, 5 people killed in 20 years? What an outrage.

You are correct. India has a history of communal religion based violence: Hindu=Muslim riots in Mumbai and Gujrat; Hindu=Sikh riots in Delhi and other places; And of course the country was founded on large bloodshed in the division of the country (mostly sikh and muslim). The Kashmir valley is the scene of ongoing Pak sponsored terrorist acts and of course the Indian Army has not been particularly nice in its behaviour in that state.

Now the real question is, would you put the casualties of islamic extremism closer to 5 people killed every 20 days, or 5 people killed every 20 hours?

Edit: N/M, I wasn't even thinking about Iraqi civilian casualties from sunni/shiite islamic aggression, its definitely at least 5 people every 20 hours.

My guess is the Sikhs. And I don't believe that anyone considers Sikhism to be the "religion of peace"...even tongue in cheek.

As an aside -- The Sikh religion traces parts of its genesis to the Sufi muslim bards travelling in India at the time of the foundeer.

It also has a history of fierce fighting against the Mughal rulers of India.

Although it is possible, I doubt it. India has a Sikh prime minister now, and that conflict has been pretty quiet for years.

Yes, excellent post. You have well demonstrated the incredible restraint of fundamentalist Christians as opposed to fundamental Islamists. After all these numbers reflect a rather mild response for those for whom abortion is murder, the murder of roughly one million per year for many years.

did you hear that whooshing sound? It was my point sailing over your head. Religious Fanatics are not necessarily representative the religion they supposedly are a part of. Anybody who blames Christianity on the Crusades, or Islam on 9/11 is just being intellectually lazy.

You'll have no argument from me that Christian Fundamentalism is currently no match for Islamic Fundamentalism, but that is beside the point entirely. A damned book no more causes violence than video games.
