If I profit $100 I'll give $1 or if I win a series of smaller pots that total $100 I'll tip $1. If it's a big double up or a big pot I MAY give them $5. If the dealer is good then I'll tip almost whenever I win a pot even if I profit less than $100. I guess what I mean is that if the dealer sucks I won't tip until I profit $100. I play 5/10nl too.

[/ QUOTE ] Weird, I was just thinking I tip bartenders and servers too much. We just gave a waiter $30 on a $130 bill at the Palm in AC Edit: I don't know if it was really worth $160 for the two of us, but it was pretty close, 14 oz filet mignon was pretty awesome |

when i started playin at casinos i would sometimes get carried away w/ big pots and tip too much. after a few weeks i learned how much it was costin me in the long run (way too damn much). this is what i do now when i play 2/5 or 5/10:
less than $50 = no tip $50-$100 = $1 if i like the dealer, no tip otherwise $100-$200 = $1 $200-$500 = $2 anythin above $500 = $3 if he/she's a fast dealer that i like, $2 otherwise. |

I've been in the service industry quite a bit and so I naturally tip a lot.
I play 5/10 and tip this way: Blinds: no tip 30-100 -- $1 101-250 -- $2 251-400 -- $3 400+ -- $4 (or $5[one chip] if i really like the dealer. I am a very tight player so rake/tip doesn't actually cost me as much as some other players who tip less per hand won. |

If you are a regular it is a good idea to tip enough so that the dealers like you (will be on your side explaining controversy to floor) and so the players see that you are not a money grubbing nit.
I always make sure to give each dealer a buck (2 if they deal me a big pot) and I am always nice to them regardless. Be generous it is good karma and besides it only comes out to a couple of bucks an hour anyway. People who tip every pot no matter what are usually losing players and therefore do not notice how much they are losing by tipping (because they lose it all anyway). If you are not a regular only tip if the dealer is exceptionally skilled or goes out of their way for you in any way. |
