Re: How to play a draw.

[ QUOTE ] I hate anyone who says smooth call flop raise then check fold to a descent bet on turn. [/ QUOTE ] I hate anyone who says "since we did x preflop we have to do y postflop". How about trying to find the most +EV line postflop instead? [/ QUOTE ] I don't hate anyone as we are all the best of friends But I like a 3b all-in on the flop because given preflop action and board villain is only really calling our shove with 22,88 from his range. I think we have some very decent fold equity since a lot of his range is draws, 8x, Jx and bluffs. |

Wow I c/r turn here all the time. [/ QUOTE ] Ya, with a decent read that is fine. People who bluff raise this flop never give up on a turn like that. |

Re: How to play a draw.
Nobody can really fault BG's turn play. 3 ball the flop though.
There's some FE and we aren't that behind if he shoves on us. Usually in the 42% ballpark if we are behind. |

Re: How to play a draw.
If he calls a non all-in 3-bet, what do you people do on a blank turn?

Re: How to play a draw.
3bomb the flop FOR SURE 100% but once you get to the turn like that folding looks OK. i think raising here is pretty bad vs an unknown, i think they're betfolding like never unless they were bluffing (which i dont think we can give too much credit to considering they're unknown/no history)

Re: How to play a draw.
cbet the flop bigger so his raise size is bigger. Then shove. 3betting causes some troubles because villan might flat call, and a blank may fall on the turn. Also, we might not get paid off if a scare card comes on the turn and villian folds.

How about trying to find the most +EV line postflop instead? [/ QUOTE ] In this specific case the most +EV line is to 3 bet the flop. I do not like pushing the flop after raised because that looks like a draw imo. Three betting gives you the most FE. Furthermore, if he pushes you are never really behind with 12 outs even if villain does have a set here. If were are going to be nitty then we should not be raising preflop with 97s. How is smooth calling the weak flop raise then check folding the turn against an unknown the most +EV play in this situation after we decided to raise with 97s? |

If he calls a non all-in 3-bet, what do you people do on a blank turn? [/ QUOTE ] We should be making the flop 3 bet at least 110 but ideally you can make it a little more. I think villain rarely just smooth calls. If villain does just call your three bet then you push turn for whatever you have remaining. This leaves with the same results as had you just pushed the flop while in my opinion giving you just as much if not more FE because it does not look like a draw. Villain raised very weakly so to now just push for like 3x the pot looks alot like a draw to many people. |
