Dan Mullen had an emergency appendectomy on Friday night, now we can blame it on the drugs he was on

For barry:

B. Mitchell 0/0 0 0 0 0

J. Wilson 28/53 240 4.5 2 0

JPW is looking like an inefficient passer who racks up yards by making a ton of attempts. I can't wait until he lights up that LSU D!

[/ QUOTE ]

We were comparing JPW to BM. Not Bama vs USC or the two offenses or the QB play. We were comparing two specific players. Even if JPW plays like he has against UGA/FSU every single game, he's still better than Blake Mitchell.

Also, the Bama/FSU game is a perfect example of where the stats don't tell the whole story. Did you watch the game? JPW played like absolute crap for the first 53 minutes of the game. He had zero TDs in that time and I would guess <100 yds, but probably close. His end of the game stats really aren't that bad, they're not great but not terrible. Plus he fumbled on our own 5 yard line late in the game. He played really really poorly for the majority of the game, but the stats don't say that. And yes he will have more yards than Blake Mitchell in the LSU game. Like I said I will take Brandon Cox every single time over BM.

On a side note, how can Auburn have a good kicker every single year? That just baffles me.

I'm pumped for the LSU game & wish I could go. I think the UF D has made some strides & we just have to focus on stopping the run again. We could of played more aggressive, especially against Cox but hopefully that will come.

The offense obviously will be fine if our coaches can figure out how to play call. Auburn played great D but when we wanted to throw we could.

Are you saying that TD passes are more or less valuable late in the game? I'm just trying to gain some insight into exactly how you value performance.

Also, I'm still waiting for some actual evidence the JPW is a better QB. I know it sounds crazy, but most folks look at things like completion percentage and yards per attempt when evaluating performance. Not many folks put much credence in the Barry Clutch Index.

Also, JPW would be benched in favor of Smelley, just like Blake was.

2007 stats

BM 41/68 60.3% 5.75YPA 391 3TD 4INT

JPW 100/186 53.8% 5.87YPA 1091 6TD 3INT 2 rushing TDs

JPW (4 games) 72/133 54.1% 6.39YPA 851 4TD 3TD 2 rushing TDs

So JPW throws for more TDs, less INTs, gets more yards per attempted throw, and runs for TDs too.

Your position was that Blake is "just slightly above terrible" and that "JPW >>>>>> BM." The stats bear out that they are similar quarterbacks. And I'm SHOCKED that you completely ignore last year's stats.

TFG- losing a game like that can bring a football team together in ways that arent really quantifiable. Even when it is unspoken there is the feeling at practice the next week that no one has any faith in the team except for the people playing on it that will give them an extra energy for the LSU game IMO

Definitely. I'm not unhappy or upset really. You really have to play great every week to win especially vs a good team like Auburn. Yes, Auburn has had a rough season but people forget that a team can still be good at times or put it together. I expect Auburn to have a great season the rest of the way. The sky is falling for many people around here, though.
