Fancy hotel to stay in for WSOP time?
Hi, I am going to in Las Vegas sometime in late July/August to play in a WSOP event. I was wondering where the nicest place to stay and what rates are for those hotels. I was considering the Wynn or the Bellagio right now.

Stay at the Bellagio. Nice rooms, great cash games downstairs, so when you get [censored] wasted, it's a short walk back to your room. Good restaurants and good table action. Wynn is second choice. better rooms, hotter cocktail waitresses, nicer poker room, but weaker higher limit games. I believe the rates are similar, about $149 during the week and $199 weekends, but I may be off a tad (Poker room rates)

Re: Fancy hotel to stay in for WSOP time?
The 5-star Vegas strip hotels are Four Seasons, Bellagio, Wynn, and I think Venetian, followed by THE Hotel and maybe now Signature at MGM. I have no experience staying at any so I'll offer no suggestions. I tended to do The Orleans, Stardust, Harrahs (only when they had a fire sale), Excalibur, Tropicana, etc--whatever is cheap and/or has the right location.
If you have to ask what the rate is, are you sure you want to stay at these places? Rates will be all over the place depending on day of week, and what week. Anything from about $200/night to $500 for a standard sorta room. |

Most of these joints will jack up the rate at WSOP time, or any other time that there is a lot of traffic in Vegas.
YMMV |

Unless you are part of the WSOP, in which case at some of the larger casino's you get the WSOP pre-entrant and entrant rate deals

Do I just book it at the pre entry price (and is that charged to my credit card now or when i get there) and then once im registered, i send them my registration information? Also, i plan on playing the first two events of the wsop...are those enough to get the discount or are they just talking about the main event? Thank you for any help! IaHawk |

That would be your best bet. |

In Vegas terms, it's a modest-size gathering and compared to the 130,000 hotel rooms here, just not a huge deal. 17000 are coming for Lightfair in a few days. 40K coming for JCK June 2. 33K for a cosmetics convention Jun 3. 11K for EBAY LIVE June 13. 30K for a truck show June 15. 15K for Cisco's show June 19. Much bigger groups come to town every month. More likely to be an issue, I see 62K coming for World Market Center on July 25-28 and a shoe convention August 1-4 expecting 35K. These overlap the Main Event which starts July 28. So if room rates are high during the WSOP, I suspect it'll be because of some other convention, not WSOP. |
