in a tourney you need all the chips, you need more aggression. In a basic cash game you can play the safe shot/lay ups and still profit.

I would think in a cash game you are going to be raising more hands preflop and thus would naturally be C-betting more, thus it being a more profitable move there. Depending upon the tournament structure, it isn't too long before all you are doing is value-betting hands, and thus you will be playing tighter i.e. less opportunities to use C-bets. Just my thoughts though.

I find tourneys are more aggressive, and c-bets are more likely to be called/raised with marginal hands (ie a pocket pair on a 1 or 2 over card flop).

Ppl are more likely to push their small edges.
