Default Equivalency

2/4 online is equivalent to what live? Im a winning player more at 2/4 online than 3/6 online. 3/6 online Im shaky.

I think you may have just gotten lucky with the Borg 10 as usually that game is quite tough or at the very least rocky.

Most games are pretty good though.

I'm going to go with 2/4 or 3/6 = about 20/40, but it depends on the limits spread at the casino. The lower the limit spread at the casino, the tougher the 20/40 game will be.

Further, when someone says 2/4 or 3/6 is equivalent to the 20/40, they don't mean that the 10/20 live or 5/10 live is easier than the 2/4 online, they mean that the game is beatable for a higher edge. Speaking from personal experience, if you don't correctly adjust to the passitivity of these games when you arrive, it's harder to beat them than more difficult games that you've correctly adjusted to.

edit: I basically have to learn to stop raising the turn with 1 pair hands without reads, as well as to stop showing down vs suspicious action with modest hands.

DavidC is right on that online and live LHE games usually play completely differently. Online is tight/aggresive and live is usually loose/passive so you have to adjust for that when playing each of these.
But my general rule is take the online limit and x3 to get the live game equivalency.
Therefore beating 2/4 onlne would equate to playing 6/12 live and 3/6 would equal 9/18.

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks for the estimates guys. I've notice that I've been playing a bit to low when I go to the casino. I went to LV and tried playing to high(8/16 at Wynn, but was drunk and tired from very long poker session night before) and got my ass handed to me. Im going to try some 5/10 and 6/12. If that feels a bit weak I'll take a leap up to 10/20.

I have been playing a little bit of .25-.50 and .50-1 LHE on Stars and FT. I have not yet played any higher than 4/8 live but I can tell you that these micros are both tougher than any 4/8 live table I have seen yet. If I had to guess I'd say that 2/4 online has to be the same or higher than 10/20 and I would guess higher.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree. I have to really rethink my first encounter with 8/16 live. I played 4/8 in plenty of places live and you are correct stating that its no where near as hard as .25/50 LHE online. I was a winning player at 1/2 LHE on FTP, Bodog(winner at 1/2 and 2/4 LHE) and than I took time off due to POOR BANKROLL MGMT. I want to start playing live on a regular basis though.

When you guys say online is tougher than live, what exactly do you mean? I don't doubt it's true, since everyone seems to think so, just curious.

Are the players more aggressive? tighter?
