I doubt many overpairs are laying down here. He could be betting an AQ or something due to your check, so a call or raise could be understandable (a raise being to define you hand; not to bluff). However, on the turn, a fold is standard, it seems. As Unknown Soldier said, he's not firing again without the goods here.

hed probly play the same way whether he has overpair or big cards... I would raise on the flop, make it 17.5... u cant keep playing without knowing wat ur up against and thats the only way to find out espec since theres no flush draw out
