Reminds me of this couple who decided to sail around the world: http://www.bumfuzzle.com/Pages/2003/2003_10.html

I really want to learn how to sail now.

$10K total for the boat, gas, food, and initial booze. Then probabaly a few hundo each in incidentals, more food, and more booze. Plane tix were another $400-1200 per depending on whether you booked 2 months or 2 hours in advance.

Nobody got really hurt prop betting though we came pretty close to playing a $10K Cranium match.

All,

In general, we delete most posts around here that just say stuff like "awesome trip" or "great trip report."

However, this was such an epic and awesome post that I let those slide.

That's covered now, so let's concentrate on getting more details out of Irie and friends and posting your own stories of similar awesome trips.

since durrr paid for my share of the boat it ended up costing me about 2k only since flights booked the night before were about 1300 and I spent the rest on booze, food, and various other boat contributions.

there were some funny props though.

The town we went into to get more food and booze and supplys I lost a hundo betting that there would be a Mcdonalds there. I won that hundo back on a random "how long have [censored] sapiens been on the earth?" over/under. (irie took under 17k years... fish.)

I also lost the biggest prop of the trip though when Irie guessed the bill at dinner on the last night and I had to dance all around the restaurant before stopping in front of the mexican live act and high five him and buy one of his CDs.

weird, a group of attractive 2p2ers.

How hard is it to sail? Like if I wanted to do something like this, how would I go about learning? How expensive is it to learn (obviously buying a boat is expensive but I imagine rentals are more reasonable)?
