Default Sun Cruz Casino-Myrtle Beach.....trip report

Since I didn't see much on this, and because a report was requested, here it is.

I took the morning cruise, which is an 11:00am departure. There are plenty of coupons around town for free entry and a free buffet. The entry is usually $5 and the buffet is pretty poor quality, but still $5 and free bad food is worth about $4.50. One thing they don't tell you about beforehand is the port charge of $10 which took effect in July this year and everybody pays this.

The boat is nice and comfortable, the cruise to international waters takes about an hour, and you end up with about 2hrs and 45mins to play poker. When you board the boat it's important to seek out the poker room (on the 3rd floor) and sign up for a seat. If you fail to do this, you may be without a seat and one may never open. On the day I went, they had two tables open, 5/10 LHE and 2/5 NLHE. Both tables had 9 players (10 seat tables). I played the limit game and it was a standard low limit game, 5-8 people to most flops and minimal raising. This held until the last 15-20 minutes, when everybody started trying to get even and several betting rounds were suddenly capped. Many of the players were regulars, infact, only 2 of us were not on a first name basis with the dealer.

The dealer ran a good game, the players were friendly and the experience was generally good. I just wish it had lasted longer. One thing to keep in mind, for anyone that hasn't spent time at sea, the ocean is visable through the windows from the tables, if you watch the horizon, you are much more prone to sea sickeness. We'd have had 10 people at our table if one had realised this. Enjoy.
