Float gone wrong?
Villain is running at 17/14/3 over 2000 hands. Fairly nitty. One of the regs at UB, we run into each other a lot. The table is fairly fishy, so I coldcall preflop hoping for multiway pot. Bad move. On flop, I may be ahead, and he cbets a lot, so I choose between call and raise. I float thinking that there are a lot of scare cards. Turn hits and I can fold out a lot of his hands...but he doesn't fold. Then the river....

Re: Float gone wrong?
I don´t like it. Im thinking that he could have AQ/AJ here, maybe a flush draw with a pair.
I think turn float could be OK against LAGier opponents, this guy is pretty tight, and he´s going to have a pretty good hand here. So, I´d just fold flop. But, as played I guess villian might put you on the busted flushdraw here and call with an ace. |

Re: Float gone wrong?
QTcc obviously, i think its ok. i dont think he has more than a 1 pair hand here and its a decent spot to put pressure.

Re: Float gone wrong?
and I also think villain would expect hero to raise most combo draws on flop

Re: Float gone wrong?
If you are both regs and relatively recently (1) he's seen you stack a calling station fish, and (2) he hasn't seen you spew to a c/c line, then I like it but I'd much rather do this with bottom pair and at least have outs to make 2 pair in addition to the flush and maaaybe straight bluff outs.

Re: Float gone wrong?
I'm thinking villain has AK - he puts in a nearly pot bet on the flop, but after making 2pair he switches to slow to let you do the betting, maybe hoping you hit the ace and wanting you to think that he didn't. After you helped out by raising the turn, he hopes you'll do the same on the river (which you did).

Re: Float gone wrong?
i do something this stupid every day. I think its a bad play. Nits know they dont like to call down in ugly spots, thats why they play tight and fit or fold ont he flop. Sometimes they fold the turn but that nit dependant. The river bluff is where it gets silly. When i do stupid things like this i just hope the regs notice and pay me off more or something. but seriously, dont 3(2.5) barrel nits
