James Boston has it right - get a Boston Terrier...when you're around for good. Unless you let the dog travel with you, you're not ready yet.

Three words: automatic fish feeder.

But, of course, you could leave the GF home for 4 months with the dog....

Just a thought....

Moron, you can't just throw a dog in a fish tank and have it eat those stupid fish flakes. It needs at least those dog pebbles.

haven't read thread yet but if one of your first choices isn't a dachshund (weiner dog) it should be.

our dog below who is full grown (around 6 years old). she's so awesome.

When I was growing up, I had a dachshund named Tyco. He was one of the greatest little characters ever. What a dog, really.

Later in life, I had a cairn terrier named Robbie, and a mutt named Augie.

They were all great dogs, and I would pay money for any of them now, but to be honest, I'd pay the most for crazy little Tyco.

Good times.

Oh yeah--OP, don't get a dog.

In case nobody else mentioned it.

Thank God. The fact that this didn't occur to you much sooner makes me feel you should never own a dog.
