Finding a place to ski for the winter in Europe
I'm looking to spend the winter (mid dec - until season end) in Europe. I've done some research and have some potential candidates but I'm looking for comments on them and perhaps other suggestions.
My requirements/needs/etc are as follows -I'm an expert skier and enjoy powder, tree runs, and other steep, challenging terrain -Some sort of terrain park is a huge plus, but not a must -Good, reliable internet is an absolute must -Cost is not an issue for the most part, but I am trying to be as budget conscious as possible. -Good nightlife, with young people (ie 18-25 or w/e) is a must as well -ski in/ski out accommodation (or something with a short walk) is a huge huge plus. I don't really want to depend on a ski shuttle or something. -in case it wasn't obvious, lots of snow. Here are a couple places that I'm considering: http://www.ski-europe.com/resorts/valdlsere.html http://www.ski-europe.com/resorts/lesdeuxalpes.html http://www.ski-europe.com/resorts/verbier.html http://www.ski-europe.com/resorts/stanton.html |

Re: Finding a place to ski for the winter in Europe
I recommend Val d'Isere/Tignes (same area). I've been there two winters ago and it was the best winter vacation I've ever had. The slopes are amazing and perfect for experienced skiers. Most of the apartments are right on the bottom of the slopes. I rolled straight from my bed into the ski lift.
It won't be cheap though. I don't remember the exact costs but it cost me around 1500-2000 euros for a week. Then again, my apartment was pretty nice and I went out for dinner every night. |
