i personally think AP is not liable for more than 100% of what each player lost to the cheaters. sure, some hands would have played out differently (ie schneids wouldn't have lost $800 in that one hand) but in the long run all that extra crap should technically be 0 ev if im not mistaken. yeah, theres an issue of graycat or whomever freerolling us, but im not sure how much of that blame falls on AP. every system has hackability of some sort, and the best we can do is just to correct the problems when they arise. if AP refunds 100% of my money that i lost to the cheaters then they have corrected the wrong, IMO.

Whoa, whoa. Fred doesn't work for Absolute anymore, and hasn't done since last year. I work with him at a different poker company in London. You can stop posting his pictures and leave his name out of this from here.

BTW, I don't want people taking this as a demand of compensation for "mental anguish" or any BS like that.

The main reason for additional compensation, as I already stated, is the fact that the cheaters should not have been allowed to freeroll us in their attempt to steal our money.

For example, let's say I offered you a game (poker or otherwise) where I may or may not be cheating. The deal I offer you is that if you can conclusively prove I was cheating (and how I did it), I will refund any losses you have. Otherwise, I will keep anything I win. Would you take this deal? Obviously not. Therefore, there must be some sort of premium charged for CHEATING AND GETTING CAUGHT, otherwise the cheaters have nothing to lose by playing dishonestly.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have not chimed in yet during this whole issue. I've been reading the threads intently and I have a few opinions i'd like to share.

First, AP should not survive this. The cheating was on a global level. This is demonstrated by the coverup attempts and the high-level at which the cheating occured

Secondly, regarding what Dan said & he is very right. AP should reimburse damages + a premium. The way to calculate the premium is to make sure that the cheating had an +EV of 0. In order to do this we need to decide how much they could have stolen if this was not discovered, and the probability that they would have gotten away with it. Let's say we estimate they could have stolen 10 Million. And the probability of then getting away with it was 75%. Then the equation to solve is:
$10M x .75 = 0.25 x damage
damage = $30 Million

This is what AP should suffer as a consequence of their action.

I've been away for the weekend, so I've got some catching up to do, but I thought it was hillarious that MSNBC quoted PlanetPoker's security guy as an expert on online poker security.
