hmm...did you give the cactus flower(from the flowering cactoid hunt) to the lady by the tent closest to the river? I think you have to do that first.

Yeah the Cactaur Family side quest is available after you get the Dawn Shard and if you hand Dantro's wife the cactus flower. I'd just go to the docks and talk to everyone there.

You know...I just remembered, I saved at the crystal in the village after I'd talked to everyone and then quit for the night. When I started back up the next day, the boat came rowing up. So I think you just need to save at that crystal, and that should let you go on. Sorry for the confusion.
On an unrelated note...has anyone gotten the weather vane and fought the Earth Tyrant in that sandstorm area that connects the Estersand and Westersand?

Just blind him and cast protect and decoy on your melee charecter. Make sure they have a shield. It castes Recover which is a bitch, not as bad as the King Bomb IMO.

You are way underleveled for tiamat! My squad was all level 30 and with three Deathbringers I hammered him down in under 30 seconds.
You should level up at the Henne Mines. There place where you hit the switch and like 18 Jellies drop down is an excellent place to level up. 300 XP or so for each of them and you can sell the loot for about 60,000 gil. Get a chain of 200 on them and you will go up like 10 levels.

Is a map with detailed instructions on the jelly chain. If you are too weak you may need to go back to the flying city's mines and spend a few hours chaining the skeletons (get the undead book) and make 90k gil in about 3 hrs too.
