Default WSOP Hotel Choices

Hey folks,

So I'm going to go to Vegas late June-early July to play the first two Limit hold'em events. I'm trying to decide where to stay.

I LOVE the Wynn and their poker room, but to get their poker rate I would have to commit to playing there for some amount of time and since the WSOP's in town I wouldn't want to limit my side game selection. A similar concern would exist for staying at the Bellagio.

I could also stay at any Harrah's property at the "WSOP Entrant" rate. That range from

-$90/$170 (or something, weekday/weekend) at Bally's, Harrah's, and Flamingo
-$100/$190 at Paris
-$110/$200 at Rio
-$140/$230 at Caesar's.

Compare Wynn at $140/$200 or Bellagio at $150/$220.

I want to stay at the nicest place possible, don't really care about having to move around a bit, and want to maximize my game selection possibilities (not be tied down by having to clear hours at a room unless it's worth it), where should I stay that gives me the best deal for hotel quality and convenience?

If you get to know some of the floorpeople at Bellagio they are pretty lax about the your hours necessary to get the poker rate. PBob gets treated like royalty there so I think your good breeding will get you treated likewise.

I've been in most of the hotels you've listed and the RIO is still one of the NICEST. The rooms are HUGE!!! It's an all suite hotel so that means 600sq ft rooms, sectional couch, 32" tv with video games , fridge, mini bar (dont touch it unless you like $5 can of coke) good sized bathrooms/closets/dresser and so on. Not to mention lightning fast room service when you're just too tired from playing poker all day to go to a restaraunt

Check into this. Last year the rate was limited to a certain # of rooms.

Hi W.

I am booked in at the MGM on the Poker Room rate from July 2nd-11th. It is $109 per night for the whole 9 days that I am there.

I am playing in the $1,500 LHE Event on July 6th.

The requirement for the MGM Poker Rate is an AVERAGE of 5hrs/day of poker play. I figure that I can play a couple of marathon sessions at the MGM and get this pretty much cleared, so that I can choose between the Bellagio, Wynn, Caesars, Venetian and perhaps the Mirage for the rest of my side game action.

In any case, I am hoping to get to hang with some 2+2ers during my trip.

Drop me an IM when you figure out what you are doing.

Good luck.

Rob

If the Rio is $110 why would you stay anywhere else? The WSOP is down the elevator and the price of the room is comparable to the strip. No brainer.

If you're playing a 1500 event I would guess that the opportunitty cost you give up by not playing higher than anything they spread at MGM is much higher than the amount you would save on a hotel room either a.) Without a poker rate b.)at the Bellagio or Wynn.
