4/$180, Ugly Spot with 77
I'm mostly interested in discussing my preflop actions. I'm cool with shoving the turn.
Blinds are going up to 50/100 in a couple of hands and I feel like 77 is too strong to fold UTG in this spot. The table has mostly been loose passive so I believe I stand a good chance to see the flop with a limp and a small chance of winning the pot preflop with a standard raise. MP1 has been limping with a wide range but not raising at all (36/0). I'm not really sure I can put him on any range except for fairly wide. The button is 30/12 with an AF < 1. I'm pretty sure if I call the button raise MP1 will call behind me. The good news is that gives me 3.5-to-1 preflop but the bad news is I'm getting 16% of my stack in OOP and most flops will be difficult to play. I might shove against just the button but I don't feel very comfortable shoving against 2 players here. So, any thoughts or advice on my preflop action both when I'm first to act and after the button raise? Re: 4/$180, Ugly Spot with 77
Your line is fine, I think if MP1 called with like a suited 8 connector like 89 he probably looks you up, or atleast considers it as you did make an overbet, otherwise I dont see how both players dont just fold here unless slow playing a flopped monster like a set of 88 for the button, and I like your play preflop, Good hand

Bump - Any comments from the morning crowd? I'm still not really confident about my preflop actions since I'm fairly shallow-stacked.

[/ QUOTE ] Question is if we're deep enough to open-limp for set value? I know I'm having troubles laying down pockets here because I sooooooo much want to flop a set and double up. I'm interested to hear what the elite has to say about it. |
