broke up with my girlfriend of 11 months two weeks ago. Was invited to a weekend camping trip by a mutual friend who may want my nuts and with whom I would definitely get with. Upon hearing that we're going camping, ex-girlfriend's tells me, "don't hook up with K." How much should I respect this? Isn't the onus on K and not me?

You can't let your ex-girlfriend dictate who you can and can't hook up with. IMO the onus is on K, much like it would be on you if a friend of yours broke up with his GF.

why on earth would you listen

unless your x actually tells you something like, don't hook up w/ K because I work in a lab and saw her blood results and she has AIDS and here is the proof.... and even then your x may be photoshopping

well I was going to try to be friends with her, and I didn't want to hurt her more. But today I [censored] her, invited her to dinner, and then cancelled and told her I'm not going to talk to her for a long time. So I guess I can just [censored] the friend if I w ant now.
