so if its going to hurt him when running for president why didn't it hurt him when running for Gov in the liberal state of Mass?

[/ QUOTE ]

People aren't saying his religion will turn off liberal voters. They're more saying his Mormonism will turn off evangelical Christian voters.

[/ QUOTE ]

right - evangelical Christians consider Mormons a cult - non-trintarian - extra messanic leadership - entangling financial structures and secret rituals -

the base won't go for it.

Not that its a huge deal, but I was a member of the Mormon Chuch untilt he age of 15. Unless you learn that the Indians were Jews cursed by god in the latter years of seminary, I doubt this belief. I also once read that Mormon's believe that if you go to heaven you get your own planet to be god over.

There really aren't a lot of differences between Mormons and other Protestants. Mormons are a Christian faith and most use the King James Version of the Bible.

I don't pretend to be an expert on the church. These are just my experiences with it.

Sam Brownback is about to announce hes running. The second he does, Romneys chances of winning the nomination drop to zero.

Mormons believe that Native Americans are descended from a group of jews who came to North America in 600 B.C. and became so wicked and evil that god cursed them with dark skin.

That is only the tip of the iceberg wrt to their ridiculous worldview. Who is going to vote for that for president? Believe me if he gets the nomination it will all come out. He'll be confronted about every ridiculous aspect of mormonism and have to address why he subscribes to that kind of nonsense.

natedogg - Great point. Clearly this is more ridiculous than believing that a Supreme Being housed part of itself in flesh, was birthed by a virgin, and then was sacrificed to atone for all of the world's sins.

I would say yes, judging by our current President.

Edit: Oops, missed the second 'm' when I read the subject the first time.

Elected in a Western state with a significant Mormon population, not a national election.

You don't see a slightly racist undertone in that mormon belief? (assuming it is; it sounds farfetched)
