National Novel Writing Month Throwdown

Yes, you have to sign up to make a final submission. I'm bumping this thread for any last-minute signups, in case anyone is willing to post their signup names, and in case anyone wants to make bets. Here are a few off the top of my head:

1. Finishing on time bet
2. Finishing at least two days early bet
3. Half done by midnight on November 15 bet.
4. First one to 15,000 words bet.
5. Whoever is ahead on November 23rd bet.

Come on people, I know the UIGEA has been hard on us be we are GAMBLORS!

The scene inside the bunker was no better. Not only were the walls not coated with a luxurious patina of aged designer paint, but the ball bearings on our chairs were inadequately lubricated. Sir Jacky sighed.

"I don't need to tell you about our situation, men and women. We face impossible odds, for Sauron has the ability to raise the dead. Every soldier we lose becomes a lifeless doll for them to command. And the Chancellor has summoned all the knights of the land to a bowling competition. The fort is in your hands, Garcia."

I watched as Sir Jacky stood up and donned his platemail. With a heavy sigh betraying the great stress he was under, he pat me lightly on the shoulder. "You can do this, Garcia. You are a bad enough dude to save the nation."

Sir Jacky mounted his trusty Friesian warhorse, holstered his laser pistol, and rode off towards the Capital. Gareth and Eugenia looked at me uncertainly, waiting for my command. I hesitated. My decision would determine whether our fort would hold out heroically, becoming a beacon to the demoralised soldiers, or whether it would fall like a rum and coke served in a champagne glass to a drunk guy.

I took a look at the page and found an FAQ that shows November 30 23:59 as the signup deadline. No good for gamboolers but perfect for noncommital morons like myself [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img].

Meh, I optimistically give it a 0% chance that you commit yourself enough to finish if you don't sign up prior to writing commencing.

Meh, mostly agreed but I'll make it .5%. Will definitely be too distracting on my radar if I sign up now. I cheated and started mindmapping characters and timelines yesterday.

Much as I would like to update my word count, I think one could write a novel just in the time it takes their webpage to load. Is anyone having an easier time of it than I am?
