Could be you end up in the non-choice seats and end up with position on a few of the "winners" rather than a few of the fish. It's very possible people you have pegged as fish actually fare ok vs you when they are in position vs you.

More
good points.

Victor....would expect nothing less...but quite possibly true

Vma....do you, or anyone, have any advice on how to do this? Im not much of a PT guru.

Schneids...that may actually have alot to do with it. When I think about it I seem to always take position on tougher players if I have an option.

Since, our numbers are similar on how we play and I experience the same issue as you. I am glad you posted this. I did some research after we comunicated previously on this subject and what I believe the case to be is that since we play more pots we have marginal holdings in position quite often. Against, a solid player the positional advantage is huge since they are willing to fold a wide range of hands against the so called FISH (or calling station) they call down more often even with marginal holdings but often have you beat. This is what I believe is occuring. Since, they don't fold ace high or King high, they often call your J10 Q10 to the river.

So given the choice, schneids you would take position on the fish? I have normally been taking position on the toughest player, and have the same problem as the OP is discussing.

Say you are joining a 2 handed game.

Player 1: horrible, passive calling station fish. Rarely folds before the river.
Player 2: Good aggresive lag player that relentlessly steals blinds.

Who would you guys rather have position on?

I have a very similar DB. The reasons I think this happens are

a) over long term I do well againt regulars thus they dont do so well
b)There are far far far more fish and by the law of averages some will do well.

have to do sql query.

i doubt it takes long but i also don't think the results will be very interesting.

I can't imagine a player profile where if your sample is big enough you would make less from the fish than the tags (assuming equal # of hands vs. both groups).

Um, OP ... did you by any chance count the fish you are winning against and compare that number to fish you are losing to ??? Then maybe play a little more with numbers and subtract the winnings from fish running bad and normal from fish running hot?

?????

profit
