really awkward spot 700 BB's oop

I just moved to the table a half hour earlier. The game is brutally slow but the action is great. No reads of any significance on opponent. He's a Japanese baccarat player who speak very little english, and my assumption was that he wasn't a huge mark but was def. good for the game.

I have $7000+ and he covers.

UTG straddles, two limpers, I limp in MP, he raises his button to $80, one limper calls, I call w/ Td9d.

Flop

limper checks, i check, be bets $300 (about pot), limper folds, I call.

Turn

I check, he bets $1000 into about $900.

wtf are we doing here?

Call, c/f unimproved. Bet 1500 on an 8 or T (fold to a raise with Ts up). Bet 3k on a flush. c/r a 9 for as much as you think you can get.

why is this a difficult spot? the pot is too small compared to the remaining stack to get fancy with a raise here.

b/c i'm facing an unknown player OOP who has me covered that bet $1000 on the turn and i've got a hand that i cant get off of with 550+ BB's left if i call?

i think i lead bigger on a t or 8 but w/e this is about right
