Default 2/4 @ the Ex: River call with the nuts...mucks to a small pair

Nothing out of the ordinary at a 2/4 limit game, but I have to tell someone about it. I'm playing 2/4 at the Excalibur. I'm there for a bachelor party and half of the guys don't really play so we're just having fun playing 2/4. Neither the hero nor villain (nor myself) are drunk at the time of this hand, but we're all drinking. This is from memory, but the important stuff is right.

Hero has J8o in middle position.

Preflop: Villain raises from early position. Hero and three others call.

Flop: 39Tr. Villain bets, Hero calls. Others fold.

Turn: 5. Villain bets, Hero calls.

River: 7. Villain bets $3 and is all-in. Hero calls.

Showdown:
Villain shows KT for a pair of tens.
Hero has J8 for a straight, jack-high and mucks.

Hero showed me his cards, says "I needed a Queen for my straight," and mucks his cards before I could stop him.

In case anyone missed it, Hero did two amazing things:
1. He misread his nut hand and believed he had Jack-high.
2. He called heads-up on the river with what he believed to be Jack-high and mucked without showing the dealer his hand.

Nobody's getting rich playing 2/4 limit, but entertaining stuff like this being so standard is worth any missed earnings. Of course, there's a good chance I could have had the same thing happen at much higher stakes.

Funny. And good thing it was 2/4 LHE.

You can't stop him - there is a one person to a hand rule. At Foxwoods the first time you help somebody you get warned by the Floor. The second time they will kick you out. This according to a Floor.
