Default 9,9 OOP - weak line?

I bet out on this flop because I thought the other options (check/fold the flop or check/call the flop) weren't good. Was there a better way to play this? Anyone here call the $5 turn bet?

No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
9 players
Converter

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is BB with :9h :9s
[color=#cc0000]UTG raises to $2</font>, 7 folds, Hero calls.

Flop: :kc :3h :8h ($4.25, 2 players)
[color=#cc0000]Hero bets $4</font>, UTG calls.

Turn: :qs ($12.25, 2 players)
Hero checks, [color=#cc0000]UTG bets $5</font>, Hero folds.
Uncalled bets: $5 returned to UTG.

Results:
Final pot: $12.25

I find almost no folding equity at uNL. I have started playing MPP for set value only. When I am up against tighter players on a passive table, then I feel like I can play the MPP more agg. Most of the time, I take the line you did, or check the flop. I am more inclined to check the flop just because you are OOP. Overall, not a bad line. I find the weaker line of checking the flop saves $$ to uNL calling stations.

I think you can see the power of position here. If you were in position, you could have checked behind on the turn (I always bet this flop, you take it down surprisingly often) and *might* have called a $5 bet on a blank (i.e. non-heart) river. Although $5 might be a bit much to call.

I think in this case, the cbet is good. But I'm cbetting a 100% HU. You will take it down enough. I guess you have to c/f the turn, unless you have a read that villain will float a lot. Still then it sucks as you might have to face a riverbet you probably can't call. Good fold.

Just my $0.02.
