Nice post.

I used to think that if my AF was less than 2-3 I was doing something wrong. Now I think AF is pretty meh as far as stats go...and easily manipulated too.

Fantastic. Thanks Cappy.

Suppose in your "in position" example, the flop is two-tone instead. Do I bet turn to charge the draw, or check to keep it small and induce on a blank river?

In your "OOP" example, suppose the flop is rainbow. Very broad question, but how do we weight value betting the river versus checking to get a bet out of a worse hand?

This is where reads start coming into play. I usually tend to do this on drier flops. If I have a good read that I think villain is drawing on me, I'm betting again on the turn. If this is the case, I will also value bet on the river...this is because betting the turn/checking behind on the river is no different than checking the turn/calling a bet on the river - at least IMO.

How aggressive is the villain? This is a pretty broad range, but if the flop/turn is such that I don't think villain is drawing, I'm value betting out on the river. For instance, if I have AA UTG and the board is a very dry rainbow board of K95-2-3, I am just firing a value bet on the river as I expect to get called by a worse K, QQ-TT, or even bad 9's as well much of the time. I only make this play OOP if it is a draw heavy board, I have a read that villain is probably drawing, and that obvious draw misses on the river. This is allow hands (that I get no value from if I bet) to bet into me to give me more value.

The best part about this post is that you felt the need and desire to take the time to post it! This is what makes this forum (and the others on this site) so valuable.
