Default Extras - Series 2

First of the new series aired last night, should be easy to find on the net.

Was pretty good last night, Orlando Bloom being the main star. Few things the US viewers probably wont get, one being who Kieth Chegwin is, also the name a funny black person joke, with a Lenny Henry poster on wall next to him.

Bodes well for the other episodes if it keeps to the openers level.

Some of it I think reflects the pressures and desires of Gervais, he has kept making late night comedy for BBC2 instead of moving more mainstream in a prime BBC1 slot, which I suspect the Beeb would have wanted.

God it was good. Went from laughing my head off to feeling awful at the end. Didn't even see the Lenny poster!

I thought it was excellent. A step above the last series. There are several great not so subtle subtexts that the American viewer might not catch as the op mentioned.
The bit when he repeats his catch phrase to the T-shirt audience is another example.

I'm a few eps into the 2nd season, and god it's depressing. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when Bowie started in on the piano. I hope there's a happy ending. Very funny stuff though. Orlando Bloom and Dan Radcliffe were hilarious. Stephen Merchant is incredible throughout.

Haha, I laughed at the guy on the poster even though I didn't know who it was. I deduced it was a well-known english comic.

Gervais fans who haven't tried Extras yet - this 4-month-old bump is my public service to you.

I had big love for the 2nd series when it started out, but by the end of it had become very dissapointed with it.

The same device gets used time and time again, thus the series has very little legs imo. By th end everything was depressingly predictable and some of the set ups seemed very heavy handed and often extrmely lazy.
