Default Vegas Hotel Help

Going to be in Vegas for the last three weeks of the WSOP, looking at hotels for that period. Ideally want to be on/near the strip and dont want to have to move hotels in that time. Will be going to the Rio hopefully often but will be looking to play some of the daily tournaments and NL cash games at the other venues.

I have got down to a shortlist of 3, a lot of the places dont let you book for more than 14 days, looking for cheapness to keep the price of the trip down but also dont totally kill me staying there so long, is somewhere to sleep and thats about it. Work away form home a lot so am used to UK travelodge type places not sure how that compares to US hotels though.

Three are Circus Circus, Hooters and Flamingo.

Have discounted Circus as bad location, and by the reviews is horrible. Hooters seems slightly better location, may have to get cab/bus to get centre strip, but is cheap and appears mixed reviews of rooms but generally favourable.

Flamingo is the ideal location but is $1,100 more for the period of the trip. There is Ballys as well but that increases the price by a little more.

At the moment its looking like Hooters.

Your looking for a place to sleep.....

Who cares about the reviews if you just looking for a bed.

God if you want a better buffet a 2 min walk will get you there.

I'm sick of reviews on here don't stay here don't stay there. A majority of 2+2 people are telling you stuff they read somewhere not something they experienced.

If you stay somewhere like circus circus YOU DON'T HAVE TO :

Eat There
Gamble There
Watch the Free Circus Acts
Walk the Midway
Talk to Anyone There
Order Room Service There
Get a Fun Book There

All you have to do is SLEEP THERE get up in the morning take a bus to the rio for 2 bucks have your breakfast lunch dinner whatever.

People here say "Stay at the Bellagio They have a GREAT poker room"

Is it worth an extra 600 bucks for the week to have that convienence ???? Use the 600 bucks for POKER AND take the bus.

I recommend not staying at a hotel, instead look into corporate housing on a website such as rent.com, and get a rental car to get around.

For the same price level as circus circus, look at Orleans, or particularly Gold Coast. Gold Coast is across the street from Rio.

Orleans is about 1/2 mile from Rio. While not on the strip, the rooms there are the best of any of the places you indicate. Rent a budget car if you are at least 25(26?). Its only like $15 a day I think. Anyway Orleans rooms are larger than average and have a business desk, a seperate sitting area with coffee table and a couch and sofa chairs, iron, hair dryer, coffee maker, and safe. Also good places to eat and a decent pool are. If you can get it for $40-50 weekdays and $75 weekends, its a pretty good deal.

Gold Coast is owned by the same company as Orleans and is across the street from Rio. Its clean and functional.

Other places you may want to look at....for the budget minded...I do not vouch for their quality...is Imperial Palace, and Casino Royale. Both are mid strip and not a long taxi ride from Rio. Casino Royale is not listed on most third party sites. I can't imagine they are more than $40 a night weekdays in the summer.

Also the Coast casinos used to have free shuttles. I think they still do. You can take the free shuttle from the Gold Coast to the Barbary Coast if those are still going. Plus the Rio is just through the parking garage and across the street.

If you're going for 3 weeks this is definitely the way to go. I did this with two friends for the WSOP and it was a blast. 3 Bedroom house w/pool and hot tub + rental car for 4 weeks came to $2600 total. I can't imagine staying in a cheap hotel for 3-4 weeks.

Hooters is the old San Remo, which was always my "go to" choice when I needed cheaper, but not sleezy, near the Strip. I haven't stayed there since its conversion.

But it is a short walk to the MGM and Strip so on the access side of things, it is a good choice. You can also walk up Koval St. to Ellis Island coffee shop for the off the menu $5 steak dinner!

stayed at orleans this summer during the final days of the WSOP. i booked the room on travelocity about 8 days in advance and only paid $468.00 all-in, for 9 nights. shuttle bus was okay, went to barbary coast first, then on to goldcoast. poker room and tourneys at orleans were only so-so at best. did walk to rio a few times and it took about 35 minutes, but it is a little hot.

If you want an on strip hotel, look at Imperial Palace. It is exactly what you're describing, plus you can walk next door to Harrah's and get the free shuttle to the Rio.

That being said, this is not a ringing endorsement of IP. It was a bit spartan and old, and having done most of my playing in the Venetian, I was suffering a bit of hotel envy when I dragged my ass back to the IP every night. But it did get the job done, and it significantly cheaper than the major strip hotels.

Another option would be a Budget Suites type place. There rent by the week, but you would need a car.

Agreed! The IP is very cheap...if you have a players card they will give you good room rates. It is also right in the middle of the strip....you are within a 10 minute walk to 10+ poker rooms.
