Star Wars Penny Slots=Awesome 18% House edge=not awesome
I stick to blackjack, craps, and video poker because of the house edge. I like to have fun at the casino but it is not fun for me to play a game with a huge house edge or slot machines with no strategy whatsoever.
Ever since I saw the Star Wars Penny Slots come out I've really wanted to play them but never did because they have 18% house edge. But, I am a huge star wars fan and I realize I could put in a few bucks and stick to a few cents. I am conficted because I hate that I want to play a slot machine with a horrible house edge, yet at the same time I love star wars. What should I DO??? |

Re: Star Wars Penny Slots=Awesome 18% House edge=not awesome
I had no choice but to play them. I took the cheapo route and just played 1 credit per line and was amused and got my drink on for a few bucks.
I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago and enjoyed playing the star wars and the Wheel of Fortune slot with the giant wheel everyone sits around. I probably don't want to know the edge they take to pay for that monster of a machine. I guess I don't really care since I made a slight profit off it anyway. |

Re: Star Wars Penny Slots=Awesome 18% House edge=not awesome
My wife plays slots when we go to Vegas and this last trip she did really poorly the first 3 or 4 days on the quarter machines so she played some of the penny ones (which she never did before). The nice thing that I saw with the ones that she played was that it didn't matter if you played max credits or not. There was no big bonus for hitting a jackpot playing with 9 lines at 1 cent or playing all the lines for the max. (Of course you would win more if you played more but it was linear, not like a conventional reel slot. You can also see the bonus round playing this way. Anyway, it's a cheap way to blow $5 and you've got a pretty good shot of at least seing the bonus if you play all the lines at a penny per line (of course the star Wars one may have more lines).

Re: Star Wars Penny Slots=Awesome 18% House edge=not awesome
Well...
Playing $5/hand of blackjack, 100 hands/hour, 0.5% house edge = -$2.50 / hour Playing penny slots, $0.01 per spin, 300 spins per hour, 18% house edge = -$0.54 / hour. So it's still better EV than playing basic strategy blackjack, even if you play 4 coins at a time. |
