If Boston could develop a solid NL cash game and then go into places like commerce and put mid stakes players on stone-cold tilt with his obnoxious persona he would make a killing.

Matusow was fuming after his incessant needling.

Anyway, I do not wish the guy harm as other posters have but he is a trully obnoxious d-bag.

About the first five times I saw Alan Boston he was on a cell phone complaining to someone about a bad beat.

The sixth time he was asking Phil Ivey to stake him in the 50k HORSE. Ivey declined.

True story.

you may like this story from 2004:

"By MATT YOUMANS

REVIEW-JOURNAL

It's not easy to draw a crowd to the Riviera sports book, but Jimmy Vaccaro discovered how to do it by developing a college basketball handicapping contest.

Vaccaro, public relations director for Leroy's sports books, picked professional gambler Alan Boston to be the featured bettor in a game of one-on-one with handicapper Brent Crow.

Unfortunately, a couple unwanted guests showed up Friday night and apparently attacked Boston outside the southwest entrance to the hotel, forcing the 8 p.m. show to be canceled.

"It looks like Alan was the victim of a robbery," Vaccaro said. "It seems like he was hit from behind. He doesn't remember anything."

Boston stumbled into the sports book, said Vaccaro, who called for paramedics and security. Vaccaro said surveillance tapes showed Boston being hit by two men.

Vaccaro said Boston was taken to a hospital, but Vaccaro did not have any further details on the incident or the future of the contest.

In the "Beat Boston" contest, Boston and Crow each pick six college games from the Saturday schedule. One best bet is worth 1 1/2 points and a win is one point. The eight-week contest is at the halfway point.

"It's obviously creating great interest," Vaccaro said. "It doesn't hurt that they are picking more winners than losers."

Boston was made a 3-2 favorite in the winner-take-all event. Boston and Leroy's combined to put up $30,000. Crow is backed by betnine.com for $20,000.

Boston, who adds character to the show with his brash opinions, has a narrow lead over Crow going into today's games. Boston is 12-6 overall and 3-0 on his best bets for a point total of 13 1/2. Crow is 11-7 and 2-1 for a total of 12.

Vaccaro said Boston's presence has helped make the contest popular.

"Alan speaks his mind, whether you agree or disagree," Vaccaro said. "For me to get a spark out of the first contest like this, I couldn't get just anyone."

As for today's picks, Crow selected Denver as a 6-point home favorite over Troy as his best bet.

He also selected San Diego State as a 3-point road favorite over Wyoming. Crow's other picks: Pennsylvania (Pick), Mississippi State (+11 1/2), Portland (+19) and Fresno State (-1).

The contest, normally broadcast on KDWN-AM (720), can be followed online at americanwagering.com."

I love how Howard Lederer calls Gobboboy a freak and strange, and passes on sponsorship because of that, but sponsors Alan "alopecia universalis" Boston...yeah, he's obviously a good pick Howard, look at all the love he's getting.

Just imagine the PAD intro:

Gus Hansen, Phil Ivey, Jen Harman and Fricke walking down that casino floor.

Nice marketing there for sure. Come where the fat and ugly pros live. Gotcha.

I think the issue with Boston is that he's started off super paranoid from excessive drug use, and keeps thinking everyone is looking at him and saying what a freak.

Which, of course, they are, because he is. Which then leads to him trying to prove that he's awesome, but he's so wound up that it comes out twice as ridiculous. It's like a self-amplifying loop of crazy that makes him louder and stranger.

In a way he is pretty awesome given that he's made a name for himself in Vegas and hung out with all the other big shots. If he could just relax, acknowledge that he's a bit weird, and stop being so negative about everything, he'd be cool. Oh, and he should be extremely careful his eyes don't pop out.

On the other hand I've only seen him on telly for two hours so what do I know. Maybe he's the greatest guy in the world.

His crazy eyes kept reminding me of that Mason Verger dude from the movie "Hannibal" I totally wanted to give him a cockpunch.
