Pamela needs a good Poker Lawyer
I saw this item in the Poker Player Newspaper.
PAMELA ANDERSON “WORKS OFF” QUARTER-MILLION DOLLAR POKER DEBT Pamela Anderson recently confided to talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres that she had fallen in love with a professional poker player after running up a quarter million dollar debt to the card shark. After some wooing and negotiation, Pam said she paid her debt off with sexual favors, and the payoff was “… so romantic.” Anderson declined to ID the pro in question by name on Ellen’s show though tabloids point out she has frequently been seen with Rick Salomon—the male in the Paris Hilton sex tape—as of late. Salomon does have some poker experience, having scored a 196th-place finish, netting $42,000, in the 2006 WSOP Main Event. Anyone for Pam in “night vision?” I wondered after have spent the morning reading state laws what the effect of so many states having laws concerning the collection of debts from illegal froms of gambling. I was surprised that some states that make it pretty impossible to gamble legally take the position that any debts incurred even in an illegal game are legally enforcible. I guess this makes some sense as otherwise the debt in the form of taxes due even from the illegal game could be claimed as a debt and uncollectible. Which makes me wonder how the winner of the debt from Pamela will pay the taxes on his winnings? I don't think the IRS will take it out in trade.... D$D |
